OK... before I get to talking about how pretty glass and springtime is... I thought I'd share a tidbit. I love to make earrings, right? I love it when they actually match sizewise and shapewise... so I struggled for a long time with hit and miss. Yes - I could measure etc. but - finally (only recently) have I hit upon the key.
I make one of the pair one day - and the second the following day. OR if I'm being meticulous, I keep one nicely sized one out on my workbench... and strive to make that the model for what "should be"... granted, I don't always hit my mark, that's why it's nice to have 1/2 the pair right there. NOW, for the sunshine talk....

We finally have some 'sunshine' here in Austin - it's been quite a roller coaster of late, sadly. But while the east coast braces for yet another winter storm - we are seeing some signs of life. I'm pleased to report that many of the flowering plants I've added over the years are beginning to emerge... it's like watching them stretch from a long sleep... today's star:

Most of the plants are some version of purple and yellow... I've SO missed the pop of color out there. The trees are equally eager - the oak has to pop off last year's leaves with the new ones... and this little crop has doubled in size since yesterday! The peach tree was the first to show signs of life this year... cute story about that tree... the first year we lived here - my father (Glassdaddy) gave my son a survivor from his compost pile... it was a peach tree. I've never lived anywhere long enough to watch anything grow too much... but now I can boast that the tree is about 18' tall... : ) While it hasn't produced peaches, I'm ok with that - because I know it'd be a battle with the birds for the fruit.
