My favorite this week, nicely embellished beads - suspended from sterling silver all around. Very cool! 2 1/8"L top to tip
I looked through my past tapered cone beads and chose the most pleasing shape/size. These were created with those in mind. 2mm at top, 8.5mm dia at base, mm Long. Overall length is 2 1/8" top to tip.
I found a small holdout of Lauscha's Prussian Blue glass and made a few of these beads. Seemed only fitting they be allowed to shine : ) 1/2" dia encased beads on niucely pivoting headpin - suspended from handmade sterling silver ear wires. 1 7/8"L top to tip
Soft and lovely colors - reminiscent of Texas pink grapefruit... These beads are appx 8-9mm wide x 13mm dia with 1/16" mandrel holes. I've always (maybe erroneously) looked at boro as rather lovely in its haphazardness. Lovely ethereal wisps of this and that, that maybe, might show in certain light.... but that's not enough. This is what you see - you get.
Of course it wouldn't be fitting to not showcase the absolute loveliness of the denim blue glass in its etched form. 1/2" etched rounds suspended and freely dangling ( 1 3/4" long) from handmade sterling silver ear wires.
Shifting gears to a less rigid style, these organic ivory dots are an easy wear, a nice neutral for a casual outfit. 1 3/4"L top to tip
Ever so slightly raised white dots pebble the surface of these 1/2"d black rounds, suspended from silver pendulums - attached to handmade sterling silver earwires. 2" long from top to tip
Smooth white dots on a base of black 1/2"d rounds, suspended from silver pendulums - attached to handmade sterling silver earwires. 1 3/4" long from top to tip
Just having a little fun. I invited friends & friends of friends to play and we ended up holding hands in this set. Joy.
Again, I looked back at the past cones I've made and chose the most pleasing proportions for these. Suspended from sterling silver headpins/earwires... these are gorgeous.
Four 'matching' pair of borosilicate earring beads... I don't think I've ever claimed boro matched! LOL... but this is as good as it gets! : ) 8mm w x 13mm dia with 1/16" mandrel holes. Encased lovelies looking for a home.
Like a patchwork quilt reminiscent of childhood memories - these encased pretties each have strong personalities and 'bring it' to any design. 12mm x 7mm beads with 1/16" mandrel holes. 3 1/8"L as strung.
12mm x 6mm with 1/16" mandrel holes, pretty nice for boro. A variety of personalities here - but the common denominator is their size. All encased beads of borosilicate glass with a variety of add-ins and sprinkles. : ) Strand measures 3 3/4" as strung.
A full 6" of Czech denim blue spacers.... these measure appx 8 x 10mm all with 1/16" mandrel holes. Believe me when I say the color is much prettier in person - bluer than shown. I opted to diffuse the light to avoid reflections and they ended up a little grayer than I had wanted.
I think there is a perk to beadmaking - and selling online. It's the moment when you photograph a set - and see that it is JUST AS you'd intended it to be. This small set had that moment when I sighed and smiled. Lovely cool colors, and droplets. Measures 4 3/8" long as shown.
This is just a test, (kidding), to see if you're paying attention... I found another nicely sweet color to wrap with fine silver wire and encase... these 1/2" rounds are really nice little works of art! All findings are handmade with sterling silver. These will dangle 1 5/8" from your earlobe
Pretty in a very early springtime type of way, elegant and playful at the same time?! Classic JillSymons - encased richness paired with dressed up opaques and just enough visual texture to intrigue. 1/2" rounds with 1/16" mandrel holes. This set measures 5" long as shown.
Pretty IS, is very pretty.
With Spring in full bloom here, I'm drawn to the transparent glass - and for all the obvious reasons...
This pair of earrings is made from the lightest version of amber - lending a more taupe color than the ordinarily yellowish amber. Lovely neutral that catches light and sparkle!
These are suspended from handmade sterling earwires - and have an overall drop of 2 5/8"
Ethereal - as the blue/grey fog of this morning after the hard storm from last night. This set has a shimmer of gold in both beads on the end... and a wispy golden fog in the bead 3rd from right. Interesting color combination and encased worlds of wonder in each bead. mostly 1/2" diameters, 1/16" mandrel holes. This set measures 4 1/8" as shown.
Lovely Apricot and mango pinks with a hint of purple. The tall large hole bead in the center has swirling pools of iridescent glass under a nicely heavy encasement layer. This set measures 4" as shown.
Why do I think of my redheaded friends? I can envision this on quite a few of them...
Lovely teals and fiery reddish coral/red with flecks of interest. Mostly 1/2" diameter beads - a 15mm dia lentil and a few carved rounds... nicely varied. All with 1/16" mandrel holes. This set measures 3 1/2"L as shown.
This new style of bead has a certain beauty about it, a satin etched field, and glossy stringerwork decoration... starkly contrasted on the same surface. Intricate stringer designs laid carefully onto tiny canvases with a 'glass paintbrush' sized smaller than 1mm.
I love the play of black, mossy greens and a range of mirrored blues bring richness to the mix. These beads are all in the 1/2"-3/4" size range. This set measures 7 3/8" as shown. All mandrel holes are 1/16" and this set brings a nicely organic set in richer tones.
Blacksticks - $90
Black version of the transparent Matchsticks shown above. It's a little more telling of the struggle to keep the glass square... but could be a really easy component to pair with a splash of color for a fun kicky finished piece! Large circle is 1"d, medium is 3/4"d, smallest is 5/8"d , sticks range from 5/8"L to 1 1/4"L and average 1/4" square. All have 1/16" mandrel holes. Strand, as shown, measures 10 1/2"L from end to end.
